Our History:

Founded in 1947 by Bob and Kay Protesto, Upper Darby Sign Company operated as a local specialty sign shop, specializing in hand lettering. The company steadily grew, along with its reputation for quality products and dependable service.

Throughout the 1970's the company expanded its market area to all corners of the Delaware Valley. The in-house production line evolved from standard paper signs and hand painted vehicles to electric signs, illuminated and non-illuminated awnings, as well as, illuminated and non-illuminated signband fascia systems.

In the early 1990's the four sons of Bob and Kay, Bob, Jack, Vince and Ed, took over the business from their parents and renamed it Pro Sign Company. By the mid-90’s the brothers outgrew their Upper Darby location and planted roots in a much larger facility located in nearby Downingtown, PA. Soon after the acquisition of the new building, Bob Protesto, the President and eldest brother, was diagnosed with lymphoma and passed away later that year. After this tragic loss, moving forward seemed to be an uphill battle, but to honor their brother, they knew the show must go on! Jack, Vince and Ed began to grow the business in monumental proportions. They focussed on technology and increasing both their product lines and staff. Although Pro Signs territory now reached from coast to coast, the company never lost its commitment to quality and exceptional service philosophy…the same values its founders instilled more than five decades prior.

In 2007, the Protesto brothers once again outgrew their shop and purchased the neighboring property, 251 Boot Road, which increased site capacity by more than 50%. Pro Signs now operates in 80,000 square feet on 13 acres, and is also one of the largest Petroleum-specific sign manufacturers on the East Coast.

Pro Sign Company’s state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities feature a variety of equipment that allows us to efficiently produce an array of signage products for standard long run production to custom short run production. Precision Gauge Shears, Precision CNC Routing Tables, Computerized RAZ Benders, in-house PVI Double Heater Vacuum Former, large Positive Pressure Spray Booth, Wide Format Vutek Digital Printers (Solvent and UV), and Accubend Channel Letter Fabricator represent a few of our equipment variations. In addition to our top of the line equipment, we use our expertise to develop custom extrusions and dies for Pro Sign Company’s proprietary products, such as our ProBand system.

Pro Signs full-service, in-house manufacturing capabilities include the following products: Vacuum Formed Faces, Pro Band (illuminated fascia and canopy band system), Contoured and Standard Box Signs, Canopy Fascia, Pump Doors and Valances, Channel Letters, Building Bands (illuminated and non-illuminated), LED Message Boards and Price Signs, Awnings, Main ID/Pylon Signs, Monument Signs, Digital Printing, Cart Corral Signage, Directionals, Post and Panel Signs, Window/Door/Floor Graphics, Blade Signs, Banners, Interior Graphics, and Custom Signage.
